Walk, Run on Olympic Grounds

There are 438 days until the Summer Olympics begin in London and many athletes are training right now at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista.

Soccer, rugby, BMX and pole vaulting will be going on at the OTC this weekend while runners try to tap into that competitive spirit as well as take in the views in the Eastlake area of Chula Vista.

The Chula Vista Fun Run takes place this Saturday, May 21 and allows the public to see the training center in a unique way.

“Runners, walkers, families, you can bring your dog and strollers so even if you’re not a runner, it benefits all the students in the Chula Vista district,” said Olga West from the Chula Vista Nature Center and Friends of Chula Vista Parks & Recreation.

Registration is available online and runs from $35 per person to $65 per family.

“All the proceeds support programs for children in the city of Chula Vista,” said Tracy Lamb, Director of U. S. Olympic Training Center.
