NCAA Game Summary – San Diego at Loyola Marymount

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - Vernon Teel posted 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists to pace the Loyola Marymount Lions in their 65-57 triumph over the San Diego Toreros in West Coast Conference action.

Marko Deric pitched in 12 points for Loyola Marymount (2-23, 1-8 WCC), which halted an eight-game losing skid. Kevin Young added 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Jarred DuBois contributed 10 points.

Rob Jones had 14 points and 11 rebounds in defeat for San Diego (13-12, 5-5), while Gyno Pomare and Trumaine Johnson contributed 10 points apiece.

Loyola Marymount shot 52 percent from the floor in the first half and owned a 30-29 advantage at intermission.

The Lions only connected on 9-of-28 field goal attempts over the final 20 minutes, but a 15-of-19 effort from the foul line in the second half helped them seal the victory.

Strong defense was key to the triumph for Loyola Marymount, as it limited San Diego to 36.2 percent shooting from the floor.
