Francis Parker will represent Southern California Small Schools division, with Oceanside being named the SoCal Division I representative. Francis Parker will take on the Modesto Christian Crusaders Friday at 4 p.m. and Oceanside will battle Bellarmine Prep Bells at 8 p.m. in Carson at the Home Depot Center.
In a podcast with 619sports.net, head coach John Morrison from Francis Parker talks about the teamsβ struggle and how much theyβre ready to bring home the Small Schools State Championship.
βWe started the fall really with anticipation knowing we had some really good skill players, but we really had a lot of question with the offensive and defensive line,β said Morrison.
βOur summer workouts were not as strong as we would have liked them, not as well attended. And some things that happened during the summer didnβt lead us to believe that we were necessarily on the way to a great season.β
With the team having only four seniors and their quarterback being recruited to play in an Ivy League school, these kids are ready to step up for the championship.
Morrison included, βOur kids really needed to learn had to work and as we began to established that through fall camp and in the beginning of the season, we got on a roll.β
With opening the season by beating Hoover and St. Margret's, who had the bowl bid last year, gave Francis Parker the confidence to succeed through the rest of the season.
