Just when it looked like the Padres might win one in Houston Saturday night, the bullpen got in the way. Miguel Tejada's infielder bouncer drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, and the Houston Astros rallied to beat the San Diego Padres 5-4 on Saturday night.
Carlos Lee had driven in the tying run with a single, sending Hunter Pence to third, and Tejada's slow bouncer allowed him to score moments later. Chase Headley lined a shot off Latroy Hawkins that left the Astros trailing 4-3 in the eighth and David Eckstein and Adrian Gonzalez scored.
But the Houston offense bailed Hawkins out and the Rockets wound up with the win. Luke Gregerson allowed a run in the seventh and both runs in the eighth inning for the Padres, who lost for the third time in four games. One thing is for sure -- the Padres need a win tomorrow to avoid being swept.
