Padres Slide to Second

For the first time since June 16, the San Diego Padres no longer lead the National League West.

The San Francisco Giants moved into first place in the NL West with a 10-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.

The Giants took a half-game lead on the Padres after San Diego lost 4-0 at St. Louis.

In its second consecutive loss, San Diego stranded seven runners over the first four innings and left nine on for the game.

Things don’t look promising for the rest of the four-game series. The Padres have lost 10 consecutive games in St. Louis. Their last road win against the Cardinals came on August 7, 2007.

Pitcher Chris Young will make his first start Saturday since the opening week of the season. Young was placed on the disabled list April 7 with a strained right shoulder. He made three rehab appearances
