What a difference a week makes. Last Sunday the Padres left San Francisco after getting swept at AT&T Park. This Sunday the Friars did the sweeping, winning all three games against the Giants in exciting fashion.
On this day the Padres used the long-ball to defeat San Francisco. In the first inning Chase Headley hit a solo shot off of Ryan Vogelsong. The next inning it was Chase Headley's turn, a two-run shot off Vogelsong to make it 3-1. The Friars weren't finished going yard. Alexi Amarista got into the act in the fourth. His two run shot made it 5-1 Padres. Vogelsong (1-2) pitched six innings in the loss.
Padres starter Jason Marquis had a strong outing. The veteran went 6+ innings to notch his second win of the season.
The win was the fourth in a row for the Padres and the first series sweep of San Francisco in two years.
The Padres hit the road for four games in Chicago beginning Monday.
