Lance in Good Shape at Tour of California

Armstrong finishes Stage 1 strong

It's been a tough 24 hours for Lance Armstrong.  Over night he had his time trial bike stolen from a team van.  Then he had to spend five hours riding through nasty, cold, wet conditions in Stage 1 of the Amgen Tour of California.  What did the 7-time Tour de France winner have to say about the trek from Davis to Santa Rosa?

"Holy Hell.  That was terrible," Armstrong wrote online.  "Maybe one of the toughest days I've had on a bike, purely based on the conditions.  I'm still freezing."

One look at the standings might warm him up a bit.  Armstrong is in good shape, finishing about 2 minutes behind stage winner Francisco Mancebo.

Monday's 2nd stage will take riders into Santa Cruz.
