Defense Boosts USD to Win over UC-Davis

Senior Jito Kok breaks his own record with 9 blocks

The University of San Diego men’s basketball team switched to a 1-3-1 zone and fed off its opportunistic defense to top UC-Davis 61-55 Tuesday evening.

Coach LaMont Smith praised his team’s effort which was anchored by its energy on the defensive end. The Toreros came up with 7 steals and that led to a couple of easy baskets in transition.

Sophomore Marcus Harris scored a career-high 16 points and Jito Kok added 11 points and 9 blocks.

Kok broke his own school record with nine rejections in the victory.

USD hosts Cal-State Northridge on Wednesday December 23rd before opening up conference play on the road against Pacific on New Years Eve.
