Talk about a buzzkill.
Hours after a leaked video showing Miley Cyrus purportedly smoking the legal herb salvia and acting loopy went viral, her dad took to Twitter to say his heart was all achy, breaky again.
“Sorry guys. I had no idea,” Billy Ray Cyrus tweeted. “Just saw this stuff for the first time myself. Im so sad.”

Cyrus did not spell out his daughter’s name in the message, though he did seem to allude to his recent divorce from Tish Cyrus, E! News reported.
“There is much beyond my control right now,” Cyrus wrote.
Earlier Friday, TMZ.com posted a video that appears to show Miley Cyrus taking a bong rip while surrounded by friends, with music from the band Bush in the background.
The clip, said to take place in California five days after Cyrus' 18th birthday party, shows the former "Hannah Montana" star giggling and wondering aloud if she was “tripping.”
“Is that my boyfriend? Is that my boyfriend?” Cyrus says, apparently referring to a person off-camera who looks like her ex-flame, Liam Hemsworth. “Oh my God, he looks so much like Liam. Is that me tripping, is that me tripping?”
The "Can't Be Tamed" pop star has not commented on reports about the video.
Salvia is a plant from Mexico that has been used in the past for Indian healing purposes, but has been gaining in popularity with young people, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s website.
“Psychic effects include perceptions of bright lights, vivid colors and shapes, as well as body movements and body or object distortions,” the DEA says. “Other effects include dysphoria, uncontrolled laughter, a sense of loss of body, overlapping realities, and hallucinations.”
While feds do not regulate the drug under the Controlled Substances Act, as of two years ago 13 states have enacted varying levels of controls on the substance, according to the DEA's website.
"[The video] might be embarrassing to her, but it does not put her in any legal risk," Stroup told MTV. "At the moment, [salvia] is not illegal in California, so even if she walked out on the street and smoked it in front of police, she couldn't be arrested."
