Killer Virus Discovered in Kansas

Scientists have stumbled upon a never-before-seen virus that apparently killed a man in Kansas last year, NBC News reported Friday. Dubbed "Bourbon virus" for the eastern Kansas county where it was discovered, the virus was apparently passed to the otherwise healthy man by a tick. He died 11 days after he fell ill, researchers reported. "We really don't know much about this virus," said Charles Hunt, a state epidemiologist. "It's important to find out more from a public health perspective."
