A 24-year-old man is behind bars after authorities say he asked to be arrested and, when he wasn't, punched a female officer in the face.
West Palm Beach police say Daniel Dolan was drunk when he approached an officer Thursday night along a popular downtown street, handed her his wallet and asked to be arrested. According to a police report, the officer suggested that Dolan find a ride home.
Authorities said Dolan warned another officer that he would hit the female officer so he would be arrested. Police said Dolan then punched the officer.
The Palm Beach Post reports Dolan was charged with battery on an officer and remained in jail late Friday on $3,000 bail. It's unclear if he has retained an attorney who could comment on the charges.
The officer was not seriously injured.
