Here are today's "dumbest crook" candidates: Two drunk guys from Escondido who took turns behind the wheel while police watched. Both were arrested for DUI.
The duo was drinking beer near a car on Elder Place just before 3 p.m. Monday, then drove away, according to police.
A code enforcement officer observed the whole scene, called police and then followed the vehicle, watching as it swerved and hit the curb.
At around Harding Avenue and Jefferson Street, officers watched as the car stopped and the driver and passenger switched places. They drove away again but didn't get far before they were arrested by the cops.
Rodriguez was charged with one count of DUI and one count of driving on a suspended license for a previous DUI arrest. Jimenez was charged with one count of DUI and two counts of driving on a suspended license for previous DUI arrests.
