A fully involved garage fire spread into a single family home, sending thick plumes of black smoke above East County as firefighters rushed to stop the spread.
The blaze broke out on the 1300 block of San Miguel Avenue in Spring Valley at approximately 5:33 p.m., Cal Fire said. By 7:17 p.m., crews extinguished the fire.
NBC 7 Chopper video showed wild flames tearing through the home, leaving the house heavily damaged. At one point, firefighters grew concerned the flames could spread to nearby homes when trees caught fire.
A resident, a daughter and dogs inside were safely evacuated.
No other information was immediately available.
