Thick Smoke Rises Above Brush Fire Off I-15

Crews are fighting to put out a half-acre brush fire burning of Interstate 15 in San Diego's Stockton area.

The fire broke out around 6:23 p.m. Monday near the Market exit off I-15, San Diego Fire-Rescue's Lee Swanson said. 

At of 6:36 p.m., the fire was about half an acre, Swanson said. 

The fire does not appear to be a threat to any structures or to the freeway. 

Two fire engines have responded and are fighting to put it out. 

No other information was immediately available.
