Suspect in Point Loma SWAT Standoff Dies by Suicide: SDPD

A SWAT standoff in Point Loma ended Thursday after police entered the suspect's home and found him dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, the San Diego Police Department confirmed.

The standoff started just before 6 p.m. after a woman called police to report her neighbor as the victim of a domestic violence incident.

Police responded to Camanita Pescado and made contact with a 71-year-old man on the balcony of his home, according to police. The man was uncooperative and told officers he had weapons inside.

The man went inside and police heard at least one gunshot shortly after, SDPD said. SWAT officers entered the home and found the 71-year-old man dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

Investigators are looking into whether the suspect had prior domestic violence incidents.
