A man was arrested in Pacific Beach Friday after he kicked and punched another man's dog, according to San Diego police.
The incident began outside a home on the 3700 block of Yosemite St. at about 4:40 p.m. when the suspect, identified as Brian Minch, attacked a dog owned by a man named Alex Lopez, said Officer David Stafford.
According to Lopez, Minch walked up to his fence and yelled at the dog to stop licking his hand. Sometime after that, Minch allegedly punched the dog eight times and kicked it twice.
Stafford said Minch then followed the dog as it ran into the house and chased it into a bedroom.
Lopez heard the dog squealing and he called 911 saying that he thought Minch had killed his dog, according to Stafford.
Arriving officers later found Minch at Riviera Drive and Moorland Drive where he was arrested and then transported to be booked into jail for animal cruelty and residential burglary, Stafford said.
The dog was taken to a local animal hospital and its condition wasn't immediately available.
