Study: San Diego Rents to See Steep Rise by 2018

A university study sees a steep rise in Southern California apartment rents as population and job growth outpaces construction.

The Los Angeles Times says the USC Casden Multifamily Forecast found the average rent in Los Angeles County is expected to reach $1,416 a month in 2018, an 8.3 percent increase from last year.

Orange County rents are forecast to rise 9.4 percent to an average of $1,736, while San Diego County rents are expected to rise 10.9 percent to $1,577 in 2018.

Rents in Riverside and San Bernardino counties are forecast to reach $1,239 by 2018, up 7.3 percent.
