Rats Living at San Diego Airport: Officials

Rats are living at Lindbergh Field, airport officials confirmed to NBC 7 San Diego.

โ€œThe Airport Authority became aware of a rodent issue due to demolition and construction taking place in some areas of the airport,โ€ said a statement from the airport.

Officials are working with airport tenants and construction crews to remove the rats.

โ€œThe Authority has aggressively taken the necessary steps to ensure the safety and comfort of our passengers,โ€ the statement continued.

It is unclear which terminals the rats are residing, but Terminal 1 is where the majority of construction is taking place at this time.

The countyโ€™s Vector Control Program, which handles potentially infectious animals, has been alerted of the rodent issue and they are working with the airportโ€™s environmental department, according to officials.
