Perfect Again: Toreros Finish Unbeaten PFL Season

USD beats Jacksonville to go 8-0 in Pioneer Football League play

Winning a championship was not good enough for USD. The Toreros wanted to be perfect.

After earning their 6th straight Pioneer Football League title (and the FCS Playoff spot that comes with it) a week ago the University of San Diego had one more conference game, on the road against Jacksonville. A win would give them a 4th straight perfect PFL season.

Mission accomplished.

USD won 47-28 to make it 37 PFL wins in a row. Next year they'll have to win their first three league games to set a new FCS record. Duquesne owns the mark now with a 39 game conference winning streak.

The Toreros were able to beat the Dolphins at their own game. Jacksonville is a triple option offense that only throws sparingly but it was San Diego who dominated on the ground with six rushing touchdowns.

Senior running back Jojo Binda, Jr. had four of the, tying the program's single game record. Senior Reid Sinnett ran for another two scores but did not have a passing touchdown for the first time all season.

San Diego's defense did its part with four tournovers. Senior cornerback David Tolbert picked off a pass, his 6th interception of the season to put him just one off the national lead.

On Sunday morning the Toreros find out who and where they'll play in the post-season tournament.
