A pedestrian was struck fatally by a car in San Ysidro Monday, police confirmed.
The 62-year-old man was walking along Beyer Boulevard near Del Sur Boulevard just before 9:30 p.m. when he was hit by a 19-year-old driver, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Officers said the teen, who was driving a 2000 Ford Mustang in westbound lanes, stayed at the scene after the collision. His parent told NBC 7 he was on his way home from work or school at the time fo the crash.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Sig Alert was issued for Beyer Boulevard at Smythe Avenue as officers investigated the incident.
