More than 900 customers were left in the dark Saturday in parts of beachside communities after a driver crashed into a power pole, causing an outage.
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) said the power outage was reported around 9:20 a.m. after a car struck a power pole at the intersection of Balboa Avenue and Olney Street. The outage impacted 931 customers in parts of Mission Bay and Pacific Beach.
Hours later, SDG&E crews remained at the scene assessing the damage. Crews hoped to have power fully restored by 4 p.m. as they worked to figure out the quickest, safest way to get electricity up and running again to customers in the area.
By 12:15 p.m., it appeared the power was back on.
