A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the State Route 163 in Mission Valley Wednesday night, the California Highway Patrol confirmed.
The crash occurred on the northbound SR 163 to the eastbound Interstate 8.
Investigators say the rider veered to the left, crossed a lane of traffic and traveled off the road into a dirt center media.
When the motorcycle struck a metal/wooden barrier, the rider was killed, CHP officers said.
A SigAlert was issued for the transition from the northbound SR 163 to eastbound I-8.
The rider was identified only as a 40-year-old San Diego man.
Officers did not have details on what caused the motorcycle to travel off the road and into the median.
