Homicide detectives are working to piece together what led to a deadly motorcycle crash in Bay Park Monday.
A motorcyclist appeared to have launched off a bike by the corner of Cowley Way and Mt. Acadia Boulevard around 9:45 p.m. Sunday night, confirmed San Diego police.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene, near the Tecolote Canyon Golf Course. SDPD’s Traffic Division was initially handling the investigation. But police soon learned the victim's injuries did not seem consistent with a vehicle crash.
About five hours later, homicide detectives were called to the scene. Mt. Acadia Boulevard was shut down overnight and cordoned off with police tape during the morning commute while detectives investigated.
When the motorcycle was towed away from the scene, there was no visible damage on its exterior.
Investigators remained at the scene until a little after 8 a.m., when the crime tape was removed.
