Victim on Life Support After Being Assaulted in Oceanside Alley: PD

The injured man was placed on life support, and is currently in critical condition

A man is in critical condition, placed on life support after being assaulted in an alley in Oceanside, police said.

At around 1 a.m. Friday, officers with the Oceanside Police Department (OPD) were called to a west alley in the 300 block of South Coast Highway where a man was found injured on the ground.

Paramedics rendered aid to the victim and transported him to a nearby hospital. Once at the hospital, doctors determined that the victim's injuries were consistent with an assault, according to investigators.

The victim, who is 20 years old, was placed on life support. His name will be withheld pending notification of his family. OPD detectives are investigating the scene.

No arrests have been made. No further information was immediately available.
