Man Violates Restraining Order, Holes Up Inside City Heights Home: SDPD

A man wanted for violating his restraining order was taken into custody early Monday after being holed up inside a City Heights home for about eight hours, police said.

Officers responded to the call around 4:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Highland Avenue, between Polk and Orange avenues, after a woman returned home to find the man's car parked nearby, San Diego police Officer John Buttle said.

The man was in violation of his restraining order for domestic violence and hid inside the house as officers surrounded the home, he said.

San Diego police Emergency Negotiation Team was dispatched to try and get the man to surrender.

The alley behind the home was closed in both directions but police did not issue any evacuation or shelter in place orders for the surrounding community.

The man was taken into custody at about 12:30 a.m. It was not clear what charges he would be facing.
