A 29-year-old man was gunned down at a hookah lounge early Sunday morning in Rolando.
The fatal shooting happened around 4 a.m. at 3 Kings Hookah Lounge at 7059 El Cajon Boulevard.
The hookah lounge owner told NBC 7 they had just closed for the night when they heard loud banging at the door. The victim, who the owner says is a regular customer, answered the door and was shot.
Police discovered his body in the alley behind the business. The man had been hit in the upper torso, according to San Diego police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The alleged gunman ran east on El Cajon. He is described as an African-American man between 5-foot-8 and 6-foot wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and dark colored pants.
So far, no arrests have been made. Police have not released a motive for the shooting.
El Cajon Boulevard was closed between 70th and 71st as officers collected evidence. Investigators are expected to remain at the crime scene until 1 p.m. or 2 p.m. Sunday.
