A rescue effort was underway for one boat in the water in Del Mar Monday evening, North Comm Fire Department confirmed.
The report was made at approximately 6:32 p.m. on N Torrey Pines and Carmel Valley roads.
A U.S. Coast Guard cutter boat went by a sailing vessel that was having trouble navigating off the shore of Del Mar and stopped to help them, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The U.S. Coast Guard was escorting the sailing vessel and its passengers safely back to Mission Bay.
The two boats were approximately 300 yards offshore.
No other information was available.
