Car Crashes Down South Bay Embankment Causing Brief Brush Fire

A car crashed down an embankment Saturday afternoon in the South Bay causing a small brush fire, police said.

The crash happened around 3 p.m. on Main Street and Nirvana Avenue, near Mattress Firm Amphitheatre, according to the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD).

Some of the dry brush in the embankment caught fire but it was quickly doused by the Chula Vista Fire Department (CVFD).

Witnesses told police the female driver of the car fled the scene after the accident.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
