San Diego firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers responded to the call of a brush fire along northbound Interstate 5 Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out around 6:40 a.m. near Civic Center Drive just north of State Route 54 near National City.
Firefighters said the small brush fire will likely be handled by just one engine.
Crews on the scene reported a lot of smoke upon arrival.
Fire crews quickly extinguished the blaze along the major highway.
