It took the San Diego Fire Department an hour to get a boy's feet out of the escalator at Macy's in Mission Valley Center SDFD Capt. Amador confirmed.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. Friday night.
Officials said it was a typical rescue and the boy has no serious injuries.
He was transported to the Children's Hospital.
The boy was wearing rubber rain boots, which may have played a role in getting his feet stuck. The boots likely kept the boy's injuries from being more severe authorities said.
The extent of the boy's injuries is unclear.
