Aztecs Reveal 2019 Football Schedule

SDSU gets familiar with UCLA, BYU again

San Diego State's football team has released its 2019 schedule. We don't yet know the start times or broadcast information but the dates, places, and opponents for next season look like this:

Saturday, 8/31 - Weber State
Saturday, 9/7 - at UCLA
Saturday, 9/14 - at New Mexico State
Saturday, 9/21 - Utah State *
Saturday, 9/28 - OPEN
Saturday, 10/5 - at Colorado State *
Saturday, 10/12 – Wyoming *
Saturday, 10/19 - at San Jose State *
Saturday, 10/26 - at UNLV *
Saturday, 11/2 - OPEN
Saturday, 11/9 - Nevada *
Saturday, 11/16 - Fresno State *
Saturday, 11/23 - at Hawai’i*
Saturday, 11/30 - Brigham Young

* = Mountain West Conference opponent

Two of those games are against teams the Aztecs haven't seen for a little while. They used to play UCLA on a semi-regular basis, clashing every year from 1984-1993 then squaring off five times between 2002 and their last meeting 2009. In 22 games the Aztecs are 0-21-1 against the Bruins.

San Diego State fans should also enjoy seeing BYU again. The old WAC and then Mountain West Conference foes had developed quite a rivalry before the Cougars left the MWC. This will be their first meeting since 2012.

The Aztecs are coming off an injury-plagued 7-6 season that finished with a 27-0 loss to Ohio in the Frisco Bowl. After sitting on the brink of a Top-25 appearance SDSU lost its last four games, the longest losing streak the program has endured in eight seasons under head coach Rocky Long.

San Diego State has been one of the last remaining run-first offenses in the nation but after several sub-par outings Long is entertaining the idea of, if not completely overhauling the scheme, at least putting more emphasis on the passing game.
