FBI Releases Photos of Armored Vehicle Robbers

The men allegedly tased and robbed an armored vehicle employee at Fashion Valley Mall on May 2, taking off with a bag of stolen cash

The FBI and San Diego Police Department released new photos to the public Wednesday that could help investigators track down two men accused of tasing and robbing an armored vehicle courier at Fashion Valley Mall last week.

The photos, captured on surveillance video, show two men running in a parking structure at the mall and getting into a gray, four-door Toyota Tundra truck before fleeing the scene of the crime, which happened on May 2 at around 3 p.m. at the mall on Friars Road.

According to police, a courier employed with Dunbar Armored service was walking toward his company’s armored truck when he was attacked from behind by the two robbers. The first suspect allegedly forced the courier to the ground while the second suspect pressed a stun gun to the left side of the victim’s face and shocked him.

The courier was carrying a bag of money, which fell to the ground amid the attack. Police said the second suspect picked up the bag while the victim was on the ground and then both robbers fled with the cash into a nearby parking structure. The men were last seen jumping into the Toyota Tundra.

Nearly one week after the assault, the two suspects remain at large.

Police say the first suspect wore a black baseball cap, gray sweater and jeans during the robbery while the second suspect wore a dark, heavy jacket, blue shirt and dark pants. Both men are described as possibly being Hispanic and between 25 and 35 years old.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the robbery should contact the FBI at (858) 320-1800 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 540-8477.
