Stray Bullet Hits Woman, 20, While at Home

A bystander caught in the middle of a gun fight was wounded when a stray bullet went through the window of her home in Encanto, hitting her in the shoulder, police said.

San Diego police said the shooting happened around 7:23 p.m. in the 500 block of 64th Street.

Detectives said two groups of men got into a fight in the street and, during the argument, one man pulled out a gun and fired at the opposing group.

A stray bullet went through the window of a nearby home, hitting a 20-year-old woman who was inside in the shoulder blade. The victim was taken to the hospital, but was conscious and breathing while en route and was expected to recover.

No one was arrested in the incident and no suspect descriptions were immediately released. Detectives believe the initial altercation between the groups is gang-related. No other injuries were reported.
