Police say the report that an individual attempted to kidnap a baby at the Kearny Mesa Wal-Mart was false.
A woman was shopping at the Wal-Mart on 2840 Shawline St. at approximately 3:30 p.m. when she reported that someone took her baby.
The baby was recovered shortly after. Police looked for a suspect and reviewed video footage from the store.
Police told news crews the baby was not taken from the mother but was instead misplaced by the woman.
