Body Found by Surfers IDd

A man found face down in the ocean in Pacific Beach by surfers has been identified, according to the Medical Examiner's office.

Lonnie Monte Gulseth, 52 was found floating near Crystal Pier Friday morning. The surfers pulled him out of the water at about 6.50 a.m. and attempted CPR. When paramedics arrived, they took over, but it was too late.

β€œHe has a wetsuit on, which was a little unusual; he had a pair of shorts on over his wetsuit. Maybe that’s the way he goes surfing or goes swimming,” Capt. Christopher Ball said.

Police said it appeared that he had been in the water for a while. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

Gulseth lived in Oconomowoc, Wis.
