Student-Led ‘See Something, Say Something' PSA to Air Across San Diego County

a group of San Diego Unified students have launched a public service announcement alongside law enforcement officers to highlight the importance of reporting suspicious behavior.

The 20-second campaign called "If You See Something, Say Something" begins airing in English and Spanish on local channels in June and was produced by students from San Diego and Point Loma high schools in conjunction with San Diego Unified School Police and Crime Stoppers San Diego.

The call to action asks students to report crime or other suspicious activity as a means to create safer learning environments, SDUSD said.

Students were moved to create the PSA in the wake of recent school shootings across the country and several threats made to local schools that have created a feeling of uneasiness.

On Friday, a threatening message written on the wall of a bathroom stall at Point Loma High School prompted extra security at the school and an investigation by school police.

Jakob Tiger, a senior at the school, said that because so many people reported the threat, campus security was able to investigate.

The campaign will run air across San Diego County, to both television and online Cox Communications customers.
