SoCal Snowboard Hit-and-Run Leaves Girl Badly Hurt

A snowboarder fled after a bone-breaking collision with a 9-year-old girl at Big Bear.

Authorities are looking for a snowboarder they say fled after a bone-breaking collision with a 9-year-old girl at a Southern California ski resort.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said Friday that a man between 25 and 30 years old hit the girl Saturday at Bear Mountain Ski Resort in Big Bear Lake then continued down the run without checking on the victim.

The girl had a compound fracture to her thigh bone and severe facial injuries.

Detectives are seeking the public's help in finding the man, who they say wore a black-and-white jacket and black pants and used a black snowboard.

It is a violation of California law to leave the scene of a skiing accident except to seek help.
