Brush Fire Along State Route 67 Prompts Sig Alert

Investigators worked late into Saturday night to help determine the cause of a wildland fire near State Route 67 that closed down both sides of the road and prompted a Sig alert.

"So we had a very aggressive ground attack along with our air assault from our aircraft," said Randy Scales, Battalion Chief with Cal Fire. "Like I said, it was very slow moving, so we were able to get hose laid around it as well as some aircraft to slow it down for us."

The fire broke out around 5 p.m. Saturday near Sycamore Canyon, Cal Fire said.

It was three and a half acres before fire fighters stopped the forward rate of spread. Just ater 8 p.m., firefighters reported it was 100 percent contained at three and a half acres.

"The crews, it's what they do, they go out and put the fire out," said Randy Scales, Battalion Chief with Cal Fire. "Hungry, dirty, we go out and do it anyway."

A Sig alert was in place from Vigilante to Scrripps Poway on the 67.

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
