Assemblyman and Mayoral Candidate Nathan Fletcher threw a wrench in the San Diego mayoral race Wednesday morning by announcing that he was leaving the GOP and running as an independent.
The news came as a surprise to most voters following the mayoral race, and caused a stir among both Republicans and Democrats.
