Man Dies in Fiery Crash Involving Stalled Car on I-805

A man died when his stalled car was struck by oncoming traffic on Interstate 805 late Tuesday, California Highway Patrol officials confirm.

The unidentified victim was sitting in his gray Nissan Altima in the southbound lanes of I-805 just north of Carroll Canyon Road after 10 p.m.

A passing driver called 911 to report the incident.

Soon after, another car traveling southbound struck the stalled car causing a fiery crash, CHP officers said.

San Diego Fire-Rescue crews found the body of a man inside the burning vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle, a white Lexus IS350, was not injured.

Traffic lanes were temporarily closed during the investigation.
