Man Booted From Party Returns With Gun, Slays Woman

A man who was told to leave a party he wasn’t invited to in the first place, armed himself with a rifle, returned to the party and opened fire Saturday morning, killing a 21-year old woman and shooting a 26-year-old man in the arm, police said.

The dead woman has been identified as Marcella Peraza of San Diego. The male victim, who has not yet been identifed, was struck in the left arm and is expected to survive his injuries.

Officers got a call at 2:23 a.m. that a party had turned violent on Brooklyn Avenue in Encanto. As officers drove to the scene they got a second call that shots had been fired.  When they arrived, they found the slain 21-year old woman, and a 26-year-old man seriously injured.

The party turned violent after several people turned up uninvited, police said.  The suspect was told to leave, which he did. But he came back, this time armed with a rifle, police said. He opened fire, shooting the victims.

The suspect was described as a young man in his 20s wearing an oversized white shirt, armed with a rifle and possibly driving a red compact car.
