House Fire Victims Found With Gunshot Wounds

Police say the fatalities may be the result of a murder-suicide

Firefighters in Escondido found two bodies in a burned house early Monday morning.

Police say both bodies had a single gunshot wound to the head, and that the gun was found a few feet away.

Early indications point to the incident being a murder-suicide. They believe the two people found inside were a married couple who live in the house. The couple owns a produce stand in front of their property, which remains closed this morning.

The fire on East Valley Parkway was reported at about 7:15 a.m., according to an Escondido Police Department spokesperson.

Firefighters reported finding the bodies inside the house at 7:30 a.m.

An employee at a separate produce stand near by said it appeared the woman who lived in the house had been sick, and recently started using a wheel chair.
