High Surf Advisory in Effect

A High Surf Advisory will be in effect for San Diego’s beaches until 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The surf will increase by four to eight feet Sunday through Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

The increased surf is dangerous to swimmers because of large breaking waves, strong rip currents and longshore currents.

NWS advises to swim near a lifeguard and if you’re caught in a rip current, relax and float. Swim parallel to the shore to get out of the current. If you’re unable to escape, face the shore and call and wave for help.
