‘He's All I've Got Left'

A Poway woman and her family are reunited with their dog.  The woman's husband was killed while traveling with one-year-old "Zak" just three days ago.

59-year-old Robert Shields of Poway died Sunday.  He had a heart attack and crashed his tractor-trailer while driving through Omaha. His puppy "Zak" only suffered a few scratches in the crash.

The puppy was flown back to San Diego Wednesday night.

“He's all I’ve got left.  I needed him home because that's what my husband would've wanted me to do,” the victim’s wife Terry Shields said.

Bobby Garrison, the victim's stepson said, “That's actually the first thing my mom asked, where's the dog? “

American Airlines helped fly "Zak" home.
