A car accident in South Bay has left one person dead and another injured, according to officials.
The incident happened around 8:45 a.m. and involved two cars crashing head-on while traveling on Coronado Avenue near 27th Street.
A 29-year-old woman, Erendira Boites, was declared dead at the scene and a 30-year-old woman was transported to UCSD Hospital with minor injuries.
Boites was driving eastbound when for an unknown reason, she crossed into the opposing lane, according to the medical' examiner's office. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor.
