Fallbrook Athlete Sits Out This Olympics

Carli Lloyd will sit out this year but has her sights set on 2016

Fallbrook native Carli Lloyd will be watching her teammates on the U.S. women’s national volleyball team as they compete in London later this month.

Lloyd, a member of the team, was not among the short list of those players selected to compete in the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games.

Lloyd told our media partners at the North County Times that she’s fine with her role this time around but has her sights set on 2016.

"Playing on the Olympic team and winning a gold medal is my dream,'' Lloyd told the paper recently. "Training for that is a daily challenge. It's what I love about volleyball the most, the challenge to get better.''
