Last Call for Unclaimed Money

County has nearly $657K of unclaimed funds

If you are one of the thousands of residents owed money by the county, your time to claim it is about to be out.

County Treasurer-Tax and Tax Collector Dan McAllister said Thursday that about 2,000 people and corporations around San Diego have until Oct. 19 to notify officials that they want their unclaimed taxes and refunds. Folks who arrive too late at the dance will be out of luck and their money will go in the county’s general fund.

San Diego is sitting on about $224,000 that was overpaid for fees, but more than that -- nearly $433,000 -- is made up of property tax refunds that were never claimed.
