Car Crashes Into City Bus

Police said the fatal collision was rain-related

A rain-related collision between a car and city bus Friday evening ended in deadly results.

Police said a Honda crashed head-on to a city bus at 5538 University Ave. in the El Cerrito area around 6:30 p.m.

According to authorities, the driver was a 68-year-old man who may have been trying to turn when he collided with the bus, and was likely driving too fast for the wet weather conditions.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time, only the MTS bus driver.

Police said the front end of the Honda was crushed, killing the driver at the scene.

The bus driver sustained a minor leg injury.
