Border Patrol Agent Sentenced For Hiding Immigrant Father

Man to serve 2 years of supervised release, 6 months in halfway house

A US Border Patrol Agent guilty of housing his undocumented father was given just two years of supervised release, a judge announced Friday.

Marcos Manzano Jr. will also spend six months in a halfway house for violating federal immigration laws, the judge ruled.

Manzano’s father surrendered to a Border Corruption Task Force team in San Ysidro on January 23 after investigators found his father, another undocumented Mexican immigrant and 61 grams of methamphetamine.

The second undocumented immigrant, Jose Alfredo Garrido-Morena, was hiding in a secret room in Manzano Jr.’s residence.

The original complaint also charged Manzano Jr. with making a false statement.
