Armed Robber Fires Shot Inside Nail Salon

The suspect fired a single shot into the ceiling after demanding money

A nail salon in Vista was robbed at gunpoint by a suspect wearing a ski mask Wednesday, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies said the armed robbery happened just before 2 p.m. at the Happiness Nail Salon located at 1960 University Dr.

An unknown black male suspect entered the nail salon wearing a grey ski mask and gloves, wielding a black semi-automatic handgun that he pulled out of a bag, deputies said.

The suspect fired a single shot into the ceiling.

He told the employees and patrons no one would be hurt if the business gave him all of their money. An employee complied and gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, which the suspect then placed inside a bag.

Deputies said the man then fled the scene in a red-colored sedan hatchback, possibly a newer model Honda or Mazda.

No one inside the nail salon was injured.

Deputies describe the suspect as a black male in his mid-20s, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark pants and black boots.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Department.
